SGR va recomanda articolul saptamanii: IDEILE LUI SIMION MEHEDINȚI ASUPRA GEOPOLITICII
Autor: conf. univ. dr. Marius-Cristian NEACȘU
The very purpose of this study is to emphasize that SimionMehedinți, the greatest
Romanian geographer, not only developed geography academically as a science of the
Earth as a planet, but also elaborated complex studies in other branches of geography such
as anthropogeography, ethnography or geopolitics. Particularly, the focus is on Geopolitics,
which SimionMehedinți clearly distinguishes from an older branch of geography – Political
Geography, while bringing significant contributions to its definition and emphasizing in his
studies a complex geopolitical problem in connection to the straits of Bosporus and Dardanelles
as a geostrategic point of the Black Sea and their influence on the Pontic and Balkan regional
geopolitical system, Romania’s geopolitical role at the Black Sea and the geopolitical frontier
between Europe and Asia (Western World and Russia) on the Ponto-Baltic isthmus, Romania’s
geopolitical position and Russia’s evolution as a continental superpower.
