This event is part of a long series of significant historical moments for the Society, which began 147 years ago, on June 15, 1875. On that date, in the presence of Prince Carol I, the Romanian Geographical Society was founded, later recognized by a law adopted by Parliament in 1897 and promulgated by Royal Decree (no. 588/1897) as a “Society with moral personality and a public utility institution.

This event marks the official resumption of emotional and principled ties with the Royal House and strengthens the position of Romanian geographers in both Romanian and universal culture.
