Order of Cultural Merit, Commander Grade – Romanian Geography Society

On Tuesday, November 15, 2016, a ceremony was held at Cotroceni Palace to award the Order of Cultural Merit, Commander Grade to the Romanian Geography Society. 

The distinction was presented by the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, during an event in the Unirii Hall.

This award highlights 142 years of continuous activity and follows two previous prestigious recognitions:

• The High Patronage of His Majesty King Michael I of Romania.
• The Cross of the Royal House.

The ceremony was attended by 18 guests—SGR members—along with representatives from the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research (MENCS), including Monica Anisie (State Secretary) and Prof. Dr. Gabriel Leahu.
