Abstract: Forests of Prahova county – the balance factor over time. The aim of this research is to present a journey across the valleys and mountains of our county, through both past and present, in order to analyze the evolution of territorial surface covered by forests which is closely related to human society, for which it was the truthful foundation of the link between the wretched ancient times and the thriving economic development of contemporary society. Therefore, I started with the idea that man, because of his combative spirit, gradually became a master of the elements that have ensured his existence since the beginning of our era. Never before have a master been enslaved in such a manner than the nowadays’ man, he depends on the completeness of the very sensitive ecosystem he altered and now he dominates.
