Abstract: The tourist regionalization has the particularities of the role of highlighting
the geographical area from the perspective of the natural and anthropic tourist potential and
also of the specific infrastructure and tourist flows. In order to achieve a tourist regionalization
of Hunedoara County, we considered six categories of taxonomic units: tourist attraction,
tourist town, tourist center, tourist area, tourist region and tourist region. Hunedoara County
(7016 km2 – 3 ° of the country’s territory) is located in the central-western part of the country,
at the contact between the Southern Carpathians and the Western Carpathians, in a massive
mountainous area, separated by depressions and intramountainous passages. In the Hunedoara
County we can distinguish 6 touristic areas (Retezat -Parang, Hațeg-Grădiștea de Munte,
Tinutul Padurenilor – Poiana Rusca, Mureș-Strei, Metaliferi, Brad-Găina), which belong to the
touristic regions: Meridional Carpathians (Retezat-Parâng and Hațeg-Grădiștea, Poiana Rusca
and the Apuseni Mountains (Mureș-Strei, Metaliferi and Brad-Găina).
